Peptides derived from oat are used to rejuvenate collagen-producing cells naturally while conditioning skin. The low molecular weight (small size) of oat peptides makes them easily assimilated into cells, where they have been shown to stimulate collagen synthesis by enhancing the activity of collagen-producing fibroblasts in the dermis. Oats are also well known for their anti-inflammatory effects, and have been used for centuries to sooth skin irritation and inflammation. The soothing and calming activity of oats has been attributed to the activity of phytochemicals called avenanthramides.
Stearic acid is a fatty acid found naturally in the skin that is used as an emulsifying agent in cosmetics formulations.
An organic compound used in sunscreens and cosmetics to absorb UVB (ultraviolet) rays from the sun. It is a colorless oily liquid with a slight floral scent. The salicylate portion of the molecule absorbs ultraviolet light, protecting skin from the harmful effects of exposure to sunlight. The ethylhexanol portion is a fatty alcohol, adding emollient and oil-like (water resistant) properties.
Octocrylene is an FDA approved sunscreen agent that absorbs UVB and short-wave UVA radiation, protecting the skin from direct damage from sun exposure.

HydrO18™ Activated Water™ is water that has been treated with a patented process and blend of ingredients from nature to mimic the lipid profile of the skin, changing the water from being incompatible with the skin to being bio-compatible. It’s still water — it looks like water and acts like water (it still mixes the other ingredients together) — and now it also hydrates the skin, feeds the skin with nutrients, and is a more sustainable water, making the formula it is used in eco-friendly and ultra-hydrating, backed by multiple clinical studies.
What does the name HydrO18 Activated Water mean? Hydr = Hydration, O = Oleic Acid, 18 = the lipid # for Oleic Acid. Activated = Water by itself in a product does nothing for the skin. This patented process “Activates” the water, taking it from being a silent ingredient to being beneficial.
HydrO18™ Activated Water™ uses a lipid profile from nature (Macadamia nut oil that contains high levels of oleic acid, up to 60%) that is very similar to the lipid profile of the stratum corneum, the outer layer of the skin.
Olive leaf extract is a rich source of phenolic compounds with a variety of documented health benefits. Research has shown that olive leaf extract has strong antioxidant properties, is capable of inhibiting cancer cell proliferation, has photoprotective qualities, and supports cardiovascular health by lowering blood pressure and encouraging blood flow. In addition, the potent antimicrobial properties of several compounds in olive leaf extract make it useful for combating bacterial commonly associated with intestinal and respiratory tract infections.
The oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) is the industry standard method for assessing the antioxidant strength of foods and juices - those with high ORAC values are capable of neutralizing high levels of free radicals. ORAC value is determined using an ana¬lytical method that measures the scavenging capacity of anti¬oxidants against the peroxyl radical (a common reactive oxygen species). The standard metric for comparison is a Vitamin E analog called Trolox, and results of the test are measured in micromole Trolox per gram (μmolTE/g). Instead of referring to this metric, it is common to describe the test results in “ORAC units†or as the “ORAC value.†Apriori Beauty’s Lifeoxylin Cellular Defense Elixir has a value of over 2400 ORAC units per ounce, 4-6 times higher than leading antioxidant beverages on the market. An essential oil extracted from fragrant citrus blossoms of the bitter orange tree. Commonly used as a natural fragrance and mood enhancer.
Apriori Beauty's OPN Rating System categorizes all ingredients used in our products as either organic, performance, or natural. Apriori Beauty defines “organic†as any USDA certified organic ingredient that was produced and manufactured according to USDA regulations.
Reactive oxygen species (ROS), including free radicals, are constantly generated as a byproduct of cellular respiration, the process by which cells produce energy. To minimize the negative effects of ROS on the body, cells possess natural antioxidant defense systems; oxidative stress occurs when natural antioxidant defenses are overwhelmed by exposure to factors that generate excess ROS. These factors include pollution, UV radiation, poor dietary choices, and toxic ingredients found in certain cosmetics products and drugs. The negative effects of ROS overproduction are well documented — damage to DNA, lipids, and proteins, inflammation, and degenerative disease — and overwhelming evidence suggests that the accumulation of cellular damage from ROS is a major cause of aging. Apriori Beauty utilizes several potent antioxidants, internally and externally, to reduce the effects of oxidative stress and encourage cells to function in a healthier manner.
